Programs At Aldine Y.O.U.T.H.

While Aldine Y.O.U.T.H Community Center serves anyone in need, the agency’s primary service area lies within the Aldine Independent School District area.

Based on 2006 demographic profiling, over 78% of the students in AldineISD are economically disadvantaged.  Recognizing that there has been a significant increase in non-English speaking households, it is not surprising to find that over 27% of local students are learning the English language, for the first time, while in school.  And while the school district’s demographic profiles are staggering, the results from the 2006 American Community Survey is no more promising.

According to the 2006 American Community Survey, one in three children in the Aldine Y.O.U.T.H Community Center service area live below poverty level; and, four in ten adults have less than a high school education.

Youth and families in Aldine are at risk.
Aldine Y.O.U.T.H Community Center serves as a vehicle for change.  The programs and services offered at the center are designed to counter the obstacles and risk-indicators that currently exist for so many young people in our community.

Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. offers over 22 programs designed to address the gaps in community-based social services.  This collaborative model allows underserved youth and families to have access to valuable and relevant services that will educate, enrich, and empower them.  Serving as a “one-stop shop”, Aldine Y.O.U.T.H is an effective grassroots, service model providing programs such as: hunger relief (food pantry), basic needs assistance (clothing and furniture bank), GED classes, English as a Second Language classes, family counseling, year-round youth development (Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise Youth Club),  teen job training program, computer classes (English and Spanish), community computer lab, Senior Club, Martial Arts Classes, Aerobics classes, Defensive Driving, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Juvenile Probation Services.

As Aldine Y.O.U.T.H continues to serve as a vehicle and a catalyst for positive transformation and restoration in our community, the agency has bolstered its services by offering new and innovative programs in order to address more issues in our community.  And, t
o reduce overlapping services by existing nonprofits and more efficiently serve the community, Aldine YOUTH continues to seek out and encourage a collaborative, community-based service model.
